More ways to support

Multiply your impact

You can help reach more families in need outside of donating. Multiply your donation with an employer match, rally friends around a fundraiser, or wear the mission with our merch.

Get your donation matched by your employer

Did you know that 65% of Fortune 500 companies match employee donations? Search for your employer to see if you can multiply your impact through a match.

Create a fundraiser

For an upcoming birthday, wedding, marathon, or other special occasion, you can create your own personal fundraiser through our partner Every.org. This is a great way to tell your friends and family about GiveDirectly.

Buy GiveDirectly merch

Visit our merch store to buy a GiveDirectly shirt, sweater, or tote bag. The items are sold at as close to cost as possible to help donors spread the word. If you'd like to send cash to people in need, the best way is still to donate.

Frequently asked questions

If you still have questions about how to donate, feel free to reach out to our team at info@givedirectly.org.

How do I edit my monthly donation or download receipts?

You can cancel or update your monthly donation anytime in your Impact Dashboard. You can also view your donation history, and download individual and cumulative receipts.

What donation method has the lowest fees?
  • DAF, check, and wire donations have no fees for GiveDirectly. Stock donations may have a fee of ~1% depending on the amount.
  • Card and PayPal donations have a fee of ~2%.
  • ACH / direct debit donations have a fee of ~0.8%, with a cap of $5. This means if you're planning to make an online donation over $625, giving by ACH helps us save on fees compared to credit card or PayPal.
What donation methods does GiveDirectly prefer?

We prefer an online ACH or wire transfer to a check in the mail. This is a faster, safer way to send funds directly that saves our team time and avoids the risk of check fraud.

If you're able, GiveDirectly prefers monthly gifts to one-time gifts. This helps make our revenue more predictable for planning programs and operations.

Can I claim tax benefits if I'm donating from outside the U.S.?

Yes - depending on where you live, you can donate to GiveDirectly through one of our international partners, who accept funds on our behalf so you can claim tax benefits. Most of our partners allocate donations to our Africa Poverty Relief programs, so you won't be able to restrict your gift to another program or fundraiser.
