GiveDirectly has been recognized by Fast Company as one of the top 10 most innovative companies in finance four times, and has been said to be “sending shockwaves through the charity sector” by the Guardian
Michael’s work on international development has been published in the American Economic Review, Brookings Papers on Economic Activity, Foreign Affairs and he’s spoken extensively on development and philanthropy. He was named one of Foreign Policy’s 100 leading Global Thinkers, a member of the World Economic Forum’s community of Young Global Leaders, and a term member of the Council of Foreign Relations. He holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard, where he also studied Math and Classics.
